six years ago today

I sang the National Anthem at a Sonics game. By some very bizarre coincidence, I found the videotape of the event in the very last hour of the anniversary and watched it, without realizing the alignment of the dates. (I'm fairly superstitious about such confluences, as it happens, and it's so much better when they happen without one's noticing...) ANYWAY, I had long been under the impression that even though I looked like a total scrub that night (at least semi-intentionally), I sang like an angel. The videotape, to put it mildly, tells a different story. The singing was kind of half-assed truth to tell, which I can blame on all sorts of things (extreme nervousness, frazzled mental state), but ultimately, it's down to me. I hope I get a chance at a do-over someday. Sincere apologies to the founding fathers. (For the record, the Sonics stomped the Jazz that night, so it couldn't have been too terrible, but still...)
